A Buffalo man today pleaded guilty to buying liquor and theater tickets and booking hotel rooms using other people's credit card numbers.
Leland Burks, 51, of Viola Park, pleaded guilty as charged to first-degree scheme to defraud and second-degree bail jumping before State Supreme Court Justice Russell P. Buscaglia.
Burks faces 12 years in prison when sentenced by Buscaglia on Nov. 7.
Burks had pleaded guilty last November but absconded before he could be sentenced, according to the Erie County District Attorney's Office.
He was arrested by a violent felony warrant squad in August.
Burks admitted to illegally obtaining credit card numbers from unsuspecting victims, according to the District Attorney's Office.
The loss to local merchants totaled about $15,000. Burks will remain in the sheriff's custody until his sentencing.
