Buffalo police today announced the arrest and jailing of Shadeed Shamar Turner, 29, on robbery, unlawful imprisonment and other charges for his alleged gunpoint abduction of a Davidson Avenue woman early Friday morning.

After allegedly beating up the woman in the 200 block of Davidson about 1 a.m., he is accused of grabbing a pistol from her purse and forcing her into her own car.

Turner is accused of forcing the woman to drive at gunpoint to a Niagara Falls Boulevard motel, where the woman managed to escape, police said. Turner was captured after a foot chase with Kenmore police officers after he drove off in the woman's car and ditched the vehicle at Kenmore and Byron avenues, police said. The victim was taken to Kenmore Mercy Hospital for treatment.

Turner was charged with second-degree assault, second-degree robbery, first-degree unlawful imprisonment, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, criminal obstruction of breathing and unauthorized used of a motor vehicle.
