Canisius High School will cap enrollment in next year's freshman class at 250, school President Joe Koessler announced Tuesday.
Koessler noted that a record 886 students are attending the private Catholic boys high school at 1180 Delaware Ave. this year and that the new science and athletic facilities are nearing capacity.
"We've made the decision to choose quality over quantity," Koessler said, "but rest assured we will continue to provide financial aid for those in need."
Last year, Canisius enrolled 838 students, including 230 freshmen, and had a senior class of 208, according to High-Schools.com.
The school will hold its annual open house for prospective freshmen Oct. 14. For information, visit www.canisiushigh.org.
