Catholic Charities of Buffalo has received a grant of $55,000 from Fidelis Care, the New York State Catholic health plan, to assist its social work program in five Buffalo-area elementary schools. This is the eighth year that Fidelis Care has supported the program.

The Catholic Charities In-School Social Work program encourages student achievement through short-term individual sessions, small groups and classroom presentations. Consultations also are available for parents, teachers and principals.

Last year, the program assisted 329 students and their families in Our Lady of Black Rock and St. Joseph-University schools in Buffalo, Catholic Academy in Niagara Falls and in the seventh and eighth grades at Niagara Catholic High School and St. Francis of Assisi School in the City of Tonawanda.
