JAMESTOWN - An overnight standoff between police and a man wanted on an outstanding warrant ended peacefully after the suspect surrendered, police said.

The situation began shortly before 1 a.m. Monday when a patrol officer with the Jamestown Police Department spotted David R. Olson, 48, of Jamestown walking on Pennsylvania Avenue and attempted to take him into custody on the outstanding warrant.

Police said Olson ran from the officer and went into a residence at 223 Pennsylvania.

Authorities learned that Olson armed himself with a shotgun and was refusing to come out of the home peacefully.

The Jamestown SWAT team was called in, along with the Critical Incident Negotiations Team.

Olson surrendered shortly after 9 a.m. Officers secured Olson shotgun and took him to the city jail where he was charged on the outstanding warrant and obstructing governmental administration.
