A Buffalo woman was charged with second-degree assault, a felony, for cutting another woman's face with a knife over the weekend, Amherst police said.

The incident took place late Saturday afternoon on Sunridge Drive in the Town of Amherst.

The suspect, Berdenia Swain, 51, cut the other woman during a "domestic-related argument," police said in a statement released Monday.

In addition to the assault charge, Swain was charged with misdemeanor weapon possession and second-degree menacing.

The victim, whose name was not released, was taken to an area hospital for treatment. Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.
