NIAGARA FALLS - Burglars broke into three vehicles in one of the busiest sections of the city Saturday morning.
Police said that the cars, targeted between 9 and 10:30 a.m., were parked near Janet Dunstan's Dance Studio in the 2600 block of Pine Avenue. The occupants of the cars were in the studio when the break-ins occurred, police said.
Two of the victims, one from Niagara Falls and the other, Amherst, told police their cars were parked in a lot next to the studio. A rear passenger window was broken out of one car. The other car had been left unlocked , police said. Purses, wallets, credit cards and cash were stolen from each vehicle, police added.
The other car, driven by a Youngstown resident, was parked on the street in front of the studio. A side window was shattered and a gym bag dumped onto a seat but nothing was stolen, police said.
The total loss was estimated at $700. One of the stolen purses was later found empty, discarded in a garbage can, police said.
