The Wales Town Board has decided it's not the lowest bid that's the best - but the one that provides the best value.
During a meeting last week, the board approved a law that changes this dynamic of the bidding process. Town officials said the new law will benefit taxpayers.
In other matters, the board:
. Approved new computers and servers costing $11,000 for the supervisor, assessor, bookkeeper and a town server for $11,000. The new equipment is through Network Services.
. Scheduled two public hearings prior to the Oct. 9 town meeting - one, to entertain a request from Auctions International to amend its special-use permit to increase the size of its flea market project on Route 20A, the former site of Foss Auctions; and the other to solicit public input on the Erie County block grant.
. Announced that a special meeting will get under way at 7 p.m. Sept. 25, prior to the scheduled work session, on the tentative budget for 2013.
