Lancaster Police believe a handgun taken in a burglary last weekend was traded for drugs in Buffalo.
The gun, as well as a substantial amount of cocaine and heroin, were recovered and a Buffalo man was arrested. Police said the burglary occurred from a home on Broadway in the Village of Lancaster Sunday morning. Three search warrants related to the investigation were served in Kenmore and Buffalo in the past three days.
The stolen handgun, taken in the original theft, was recovered along with the cocaine and 320 packets of heroin bagged for sale.
Police Wednesday charged Harlen A. Spidell, 22, of Buffalo, with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies. He also was charged with three counts of criminally using drug paraphernalia.
Detectives also recovered three rings taken in the burglary from a local pawn shop, and said they are continuing their investigation.
