A University at Buffalo student was assaulted after he refused to hand his wallet over to a trio of would-be robbers early Sunday in a South Campus parking lot, University Police said.
The incident took place at about 3:45 a.m. in the Parker Lot of the Main Street campus in Buffalo.
The victim told police he was walking through the lot when three males got out of an older, white SUV on Windridge Road. The trio demanded the victim's wallet but he refused. The would-be robbers then assaulted the victim and drove off on Winspear Avenue.
The assailants were described as a white male and two Hispanic males. Two of them were wearing white T-shirts and one was in a black shirt. They did not display a weapon or indicate they had one.
Anyone withe information about the incident is asked to call University Police at 645-2227.
Police reminded students to take precautions such as walking with other people, using UB's safety services walk stations, safety shuttles and other university transportation.
