LOCKPORT - A woman indicted on a felony driving while intoxicated charge wasted no time in pleading guilty Monday.
Jeanene M. Hagar, 34, of 66th Street, Niagara Falls, made the unusual move of pleading guilty to the full indictment without trying to work out any type of plea bargain. She "understands she has a problem and wants to accept responsibility," defense attorney Andrew C. LoTempio said before Hagar admitted to aggravated and Class D felony DWI and unlicensed driving.
Hagar could be sentenced to as long as seven years in prison when she returns before Niagara County Judge Matthew J. Murphy III Nov. 15.
Hagar was arrested about 1:30 p.m. May 23 on Lockport-Olcott Road in Newfane. Assistant District Attorney Cheryl L. Nichols said Hagar's blood alcohol content was measured in a blood test at .19 percent.
LoTempio said Hagar, a former Orchard Park resident, has started a rehabilitation program in the wake of a pending DWI case in Erie County.
