LITTLE VALLEY - One of nine people arrested during drug raids March 1 in Olean was indicted Monday by a Cattaraugus County grand jury.
Rodney D. Doran, 23, pleaded innocent before County Justice Larry Himelein to charges of felony criminal possession of a controlled substance, felony possession of marijuana and a misdemeanor weapons charge.
Cattaraugus County District Attorney Lori Pettit Rieman said Doran was charged by the grand jury with unlawfully possession of narcotic drugs with intent to sell and for having a firearm during police raids on three Olean apartments.
Olean police said they seized drugs, weapons and $16,000 in cash in the early-morning raids conducted with the Cattaraugus County Sheriff's Special Response Team and a State Police K-9 unit.
Olean police officials called the operation one of the department's biggest successes in its war on drugs. Apartments on Reed Street and South Second Street, the latter where Doran lived, were targeted.
The arrests came after a two-month investigation. The current status of cases against eight others charged in the raids could not be learned Monday.
