A 48-year-old Buffalo man has admitted to striking his girlfriend and wrapping a pillowcase around her mouth to muffle her screams during an attack last October in his Deerfield Avenue home, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced today.
Namon Kitchen pleaded guilty to second-degree strangulation and third-degree assault before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah Haendiges.
He faces seven years in prison when sentenced on Oct. 3.
The victim lost consciousness at one point but was eventually able to escape from Kitchen's home, according to the District Attorney Frank A. Sedita III.
The attack left her with a severely swollen eye and and loose teeth, the prosecutor said.
Kitchen fled Buffalo but was arrested five months later in Ohio.
