LOCKPORT - On their first full day of school today, a Lockport teen was suspended after school officials found marijuana in his locker.
The 16-year-old Birchwood Drive boy, a student at the Lockport Opportunity Project, the district's alternative education building on West Avenue, was charged just after 11 a.m. by city police with unlawful possession of marijuana after he admitted to having marijuana in his book bag.
A teacher told police he walked past the teen's locker and smelled marijuana. A principal using a master key opened the lock and after a search discovered a single marijuana cigarette in the front pocket of the bag, police said.
School officials said the teen was suspended pending a superintendent's hearing.
