A Buffalo man, who remains the prime suspect in the Erie County Sheriff Office's more than two-month-old investigation of a string of Southtowns gas station burglaries, was charged today with burglary, grand larceny and criminal mischief for the theft of about $2,500 worth of cigarettes from the Mobil station at Clinton Street and Bowed Road in Elma, Sheriff Tim Howard announced.
Brian Mann, 42, of Alamo Street, was being held in the Erie County Holding Center pending court action. Mann remains a prime suspect in similar gas station burglaries in Marilla, Elma, Wales and Holland, the sheriff said.
During a burglary July 13 at the Mobile station in Elma, Mann allegedly smashed in the door and stole cigarettes, the sheriff said.
Detectives Christian Perisi, Shaun Hadiger, Jack Graham, Matt Noecker and Steve Meerboth have been involved in the investigation.
