NIAGARA FALLS - Fire destroyed a single-family home in the 1100 block of Pierce Avenue this morning.
Two adults and three young children at 1134 Pierce Ave. were out of the house at the time of the fire, which was reported at 9:12 a.m. No injuries were reported.
According to investigators, the fire started in a bedroom on the first floor and quickly spread up the stairway into the attic of the one-story home, destroying the roof and damaging the house beyond repair. The house, valued at $20,000 to $25,000, is expected to be demolished, city fire Capt. Thomas Etopio said. The Red Cross was called to assist the family, which was not identified.
Niagara Falls firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about 30 minutes, according to a city fire department dispatcher. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
