GOWANDA - Howard W. Miller died Saturday in Bertrand Chaffee Hospital, Springville, after his Jeep Wrangler crashed in the Town of Otto. He was 64.
Born in Buffalo, Mr. Miller married Cathy L. Holocinski in St. Joseph Catholic Church in 1968.
The couple owned and operated the former M&H Sunoco on Sand Hill Road for nearly 20 years.
After selling the garage, Mr. Miller was involved in several other Gowanda-area ventures, and at the time of his death, he and his son, Daniel, ran Southtowns Cleanouts in Gowanda.
He also was the proprietor of the former Depot Hotel, currently operating as Ye Old Hotel boarding house.
Mr. Miller also enjoyed raising animals on his property, including llamas. He was a member of the Gowanda Loyal Order of Moose and the Slovenian Club.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 44 years and his son, include a daughter, Shelly J., and four brothers, Thomas, Michael, John and Larry.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Gowanda Free Methodist Church, 149 W. Main St.
