Donald W. Collins, a World War II Navy veteran and Amherst resident, died Aug. 24 in Buffalo General Medical Center. He was 94.
Born in Palisades Park, N.J., Mr. Collins graduated from Colgate University with a major in German literature.
He then joined the Navy, serving in intelligence before being assigned to the Pacific Theater, where he skippered a PT boat.
Mr. Collins settled in Buffalo in the late 1950s and opened up his own investment company, Don W. Collins Co.
In his youth he was a talented baseball player and dabbled with playing professionally before the onset of World War II.
A bridge player, he was also active in the West Side Rowing Club and Buffalo Curling Club.
His wife, the former Marion A. Anderson, predeceased him.
Survivors include two daughters, Diana Harrison and Debra Allesandra.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
