Nickname: Tigers (8-3)

Coach: Charlie Comerford, 2nd season

Outlook: The Tigers have three players who were All-WNY honorable mention last year: QB Ryan Dougherty, RB Adam DiMillo and kicker Tom Gioia. DiMillo, a lacrosse All-American who has committed to Maryland, averaged 11 yards per carry. He had 900 yard in five games before breaking his arm. WR Bryant Fulton had 11 TD catches. All five linemen are back, including three-year starter Sean Murphy and Ryan Byrne, who was all-Catholic as a sophomore. Coming off a 14-TD season is FB Jackson Brown, who has committed to Hobart for lacrosse.

Nickname: Hawks (1-8)

Coach: Angelo Sciandra, 13th season

Outlook: The Hawks' best player might be Chari Wright, a three-year starter. Anthony DiFrancesco returns for his third year at QB and honed his skills this offseason at the Cross Training skills camp for QBs and WRs. Senior WR Pat Castile and junior WR Zach Glowicki are both coming off broken legs. The line is big question with only 6-1, 210-pound senior guard Keith Carter returning. He will be surrounded by four sophomores. In the secondary Castile will play one corner and Glowicki the other. Depth is an issue with 120 boys in the school.

Nickname: Red Raiders (8-3)

Coach: Jerry Smith, 24th season

Outlook: There's a two-way battle for QB between returning senior Brian Melisz and Jake Dolegala, last year's JV starter, who has looked impressive in offseason camps. RB/DB Alex Misterman ran a 4.4 5/4 0 at the Syracuse and Buffalo State camps. Jordan Zakroczemski (FB) and Jarrett Dolegala (WR) return. "Even though we graduated 16 guys to college football, I think we're going to surprise some people because everyone thinks we're going to be down and we have a real good core," said Smith.

Nickname: Marauders (8-3)

Coach: Dennis Gilbert, 3rd season

Outlook: Nigel Davis earned second team All-WNY DB as a sophomore last year. Leading a big line is senior LT Frank Spina (6-4, 250) is a three-year starter on the line. Wes Harvin (6-2, 240) returns at center. Two newcomers give Joe's even more size. Austin Greenwood (6-5, 250) is an incoming freshman from Kenmore. Tremaine Shelton (6-7, 250) is a transfer from Buffalo Arts. "We're going to be big, for sure, and we've got three stud skill guys back in Nigel Davis, Ilo Noble and Rod Payne, so we're really excited about what's going to happen," said Gilbert.

Nickname: Lancers (4-5)

Coach: Dave Hersey, 3rd season

Outlook: The Lancers will be led up front by LT Andrew Hoffman and center Robert Desiderio. They will open holes for junior RB Nick Vallone, who's coming off a 1,300-yard season. "Nick will only be as good as his offensive line, so those kids up front will have to be the leaders," said Hersey. The Lancers are looking for big things from senior WR/LB Alex Horvatis, a three-year varsity player. Sophomore Justin Hersey gets the call at QB after a strong JV year. The Lancers are hoping FB Bryan O'Neill has made a full recovery from last year's broken ankle. Junior Nate Keith returns at LB. Justin Green is a two-way tackle who had a strong offseason.

Nickname: Vikings (4-4)

Coach: Colin Brinson, 5th season

Outlook: Captains this year are RB/LB Adam Noonan and QB/DB Liam Ryan. Noonan rushed for 1,056 yards last year and 11 TDs. Two of the Vikings' top tacklers are coming off big freshman years, LB Kenny Williams (60 tackles) and Steve Glinski (52 tackles). Will LaHood, Andy Welchoff and Mitchell Shaw will be counted on for their line play. Nichols is playing all Section V teams except for O'Hara. Eight return on both sides of the ball. Brinson said the line is experienced, but lacks size.
