Coach: Mike Dean, third season

Outlook: Senior QB/S Austin Mietz brings two years of experience. He worked with Alden graduate and Edinboro sophomore Tyler Stoldt during the offseason. WR/LB Connor Ladd is another three-year starter. Junior Austen Lauricella brings speed to the slot and DB. Tommy James is a three-year starter on the line. Also back on the line are Brad Clapp and Gowah Abrams. The Tigers open league play with Cleveland Hill, the team that eliminated them, 28-21, in last year's playoffs.

Nickname: Eagles (8-2)

Coach: Glen Graham, ninth season

Outlook: Last year's Class C finalists return two first team all-league players in junior Brandon Thomas and senior Jonathan Thomas. Brandon was the team's second-leading rusher last year with 900-plus yards. Jonathan missed five games last year with an eye injury. QB Jacob Radlish has a lot of guts and moxy, according to Graham. Center Ryan Mullen and tackle Ramello Peterson return on the line.

Nickname: Hillbillies (8-1)

Coach: Bob Ball, 13th season

Outlook: A pair of Class C all-state players return: first team OL Nick Nocek and second team LB Zach Buckley. They are two of 12 starters who return for the defending Class C North champs. Junior Weston Ley will take snaps at QB, play WR and DB. Senior Trenton Thompson, who pitched for the Sectional champion baseball team, is also in the QB mix. Junior Cody Smith, a transfer from Pittsburgh, will start at WR/S and special teams.

Nickname: Panthers (2-7)

Coach: Sean Gabel, fourth season

Outlook: The Panthers' only returning starters are senior lineman Justin Grimm and junior RB/LB Brennan Gieger. Aaron Warrior lends size at 6-foot-4, 336. The Panthers had an impressive turnout for offseason workouts as 20 players showed up three days a week. "And they worked," Gabel said. "We're turning around our program and bringing that pride back to Gowanda."

Co-coaches: Mark Ostempowski, Jeff Sabatino, eighth season

Outlook: The Bears were hit hard, graduating 18 seniors. QB Nick Anderson and all-star LB Khaliq Satcher (6-3, 200) will be keys. Satcher is also fierce at DE. Anderson had several 200-yard plus games last year throwing. The Bears look for TE Joe Burkowski and WR Dave Lebron to step up catching the ball. Anderson, Burkowski and Christian Klyzcek are team captains.

Coach: Bill Atlas, sixth season

Outlook: The fast and shifty Justin Slango moves from QB to RB. Junior Tim Walch is proving to be a quick study at QB. WR Nick Bell is back after missing most of last season with a broken ankle. Another solid WR is Taylor Thilk. Center Steve Szuba is back after an ACL tear. "We were riddled with injuries last year, but this year we're senior-heavy, so I'm excited," said Atlas.
