CARLTON – A Colorado man and his son were rescued by the Orleans County Sheriff’s Marine Unit after their 16-foot catamaran capsized this afternoon about a mile off shore in Lake Ontario north of Johnson’s Creek, near Lakeside Beach State Park.
David E. Batt, 56, and his son, Steven, 23, both of Fort Collins, were rescued by Marine Unit Deputies E.N. Fuller and J.L. Burke as they were clinging to their catamaran after its rigging got fouled up and it capsized about 3 p.m. Neither man was injured.
The boat was towed to Point Breeze.
