The old comic chestnut "You Can't Take It With You" opens the fourth season of Hamburg Theatre Under the Stars, an outdoor community theater company launched in 2009 by Tony Baksa.
The 1936 play by George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart, which won the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1937, is a seminal piece of American theater about a quirky family struggling with the expectations of the outside world. It has served as a blueprint for any number of subsequent plays and television shows, perhaps most notably "The Addams Family." Baksa's production, which opens Thursday and runs through Sept. 2, features Norm Argulski, Patrick Tighe, Marissa MacTurk, Connor Graham and Merridy Knips under the direction of Marc Ruffino.
The company (HTUTS for short) performs in Hamburg's Memorial Park at Lake and Union streets at 7 p.m. Thursday through Sept. 1 and 3 p.m. Sept. 2. Admission is free. For more information, call 648-6963 or visit www.htutus.com.
