It would take an entire page, or maybe several, to list everything that's happening at this year's Erie County Fair. So here's what you need to know to get started.

The fair -- celebrating its 173rd year as one of the biggest county fairs in America -- kicks off from 2 to 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. The day's main event is a free concert at 8 p.m. by 1964, a Beatles tribute band with more than 25 years of Fab Four experience. Or maybe it's the dairy cattle show at 3 p.m., or the performance by "balloonologist" John Cassidy at 7:30 p.m. Or maybe it's just the plethora of food, games, rides, animal shows and other entertainment that can be found all around the 266-acre Fairground (5600 McKinley Parkway, Hamburg). You decide. Chances are, if it's something you enjoy, the fair will have plenty of it.

Wednesday's festivities are only the beginning. The fair runs through Aug. 19, and will feature a daily array of parades, competitive races, historical building demonstrations, circuses, eating contests and more. Free concerts feature Ronnie Milsap (Aug. 9) and Little Anthony & the Imperials (Aug. 13). Among the concerts that require a separate admission ticket are Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice (Aug. 11), Ted Nugent (Aug. 12) and country star Blake Shelton (Aug. 16).

To peruse the entirety of this year's events and activities, visit Fair admission is $10 for adults and $7 for seniors (children 12 and under are admitted free). The fair runs 9 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. each day after Wednesday.
