On Thursday, Artpark's Mainstage Theater will be transformed into a glittering backdrop for one of the best-loved fairy tales in the canon. A musical version of "Cinderella," based on Rodgers and Hammerstein's 1957 television musical and its two subsequent adaptations, will run through Aug. 17.
The show, a somewhat more contemporary interpretation of the fairy tale than some audiences may be expecting, stars recent Elon University graduate Emilie Renier in the title role and current Elon student Zane Phillips as her Prince Charming. With direction by MusicalFare's Randall Kramer, choreography by Anne Beck, lavish costumes and an ornate set, Artpark's visually driven production is pulling out all the stops.
Tickets are $12.50 to $45, with more information at 754-4375 or www.artpark.net.
