Chill the pop. Pack the cooler. The Buffalo News-sponsored Jazz at the Albright-Knox concert series begins Sunday, with an encore appearance by trumpet player and singer Joe Gransden, who has been a hit in the past.
Gransden, 38, is a graduate of Williamsville North High School. Now living in Atlanta, he performs at clubs and hotels there, as well as at jazz festivals around the country. With seven CDs to his credit, he has a growing reputation as a natural virtuoso with a fine, laid-back style. His singing and trumpet playing have drawn comparisons with Chet Baker.
At 2 p.m. Sunday on the steps of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery, Gransden will be joined by a combo led by local jazz drummer Danny Hull. Admission is free.
