UP IN THE AIR
"The Flying Machine Book" by Bobby Mercer (Chicago Review Press, 197 pages, $14.97) takes paper airplanes to a whole new level. The book's subtitle is "Build and Launch 35 Rockets, Gliders, Helicopters, Boomerangs and More." Step-by-step instructions will help you give flight to your projects made with items you mostly can find around the house: paper towel tubes, plastic bottles, paper clips, etc. Each project comes with instructions, photos and the science behind what makes it work.
The Rock 2 Live Music Festival, an event created by Spanish River High School (Boca Raton, Fla.) sophomore Ross Brenner to raise awareness to get teens to stop texting and driving, will take place April 28 on the campus of Florida Atlantic University (www.fau.edu). The concert, featuring artists such as Flo Rida, Kelly Rowland and One Republic, among others, also will be broadcast to a national audience through a live streaming interface. "E-Tickets" for the live streaming event will be available via Ticketmaster. PhoneGuard, a supporter of the event, will be giving away its free software with every e-ticket sold in support of the initiative. For more information on the event, visit www.rock2livefest.com or www.spanishriverfoundation.org.
QUOTE OF THE DAY
"I don't want to have a girlfriend for the sake of having a girlfriend. I have no desire to pick a random girl. I want the right girl. There are plenty of opportunities, but I would rather have the right one."
