> SKATING TO GOLD
Figure skater Jordan Bauth, 14, of Lancaster, won a gold medal in the Team Figure Skating event at the first-ever Youth Olympic Games held in Innsbruck, Austria, last month. She also placed seventh in the highly competitive short and freeskating programs. Jordan, a freshman at Lancaster High School, represents the Amherst Skating Club.

> PAGEANT SEEKS CONTESTANTS
The Young Miss Buffalo Pageant Scholarship & Enrichment Program is accepting applications for the 2012 Young Miss Buffalo Pageant. The pageant is open to girls ages 13-17. > CREATE A FAIRY HOUSE
Artpark is seeking local schools, Scout groups, artists, groups and families to create fairy houses for display at its annual Fairy House Festival, June 9 and 10. The Fairy House Festival will feature a tour of fairy houses throughout the woods and gardens of the park, a book signing by children's book author Tracy Kane, art activities and other family fun. Fairy houses are small structures built from sticks, dry grasses, leaves, pinecones and other found natural materials. Building guidelines, applications and photos of fairy houses can be found at www.artpark.net. The application deadline is March 1, although completed houses may be submitted at a later date. Jon Mrowczynski, a student at West Seneca West High School, has been selected for the 2012 American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall on Feb. 12. He will be a part of the Honors Band as an oboist.
Also selected to perform with the 2012 American High School Honors Performance Series Choir at Carnegie Hall will be Wilson High School students Kelly Moje, senior; Grace Adams, junior; and Caitlin Boyle, sophomore.
