Ode to Bowling

The gleam of the oil,
The mighty crash of
pins,
Friends all around,
Clutch tenth-frame wins.

Converting a difficult
split,
Hitting square in the
pocket,
Some may throw with a
remarkable hook,
While others throw a
speeding rocket.

The occasional bad luck,
Which robs you of what
you deserve,
When nothing seems to
go your way,
You must take a deep
breath and try to conserve.

A bowling ball,
Your fickle and dependable
friend,
It can get you a thrilling
succession of strikes,
or fall in the gutter and
put your game to an
end.

Being serious,
Or goofing around,
Bowling is the greatest
sport,
That I am lucky to have
found.

Techniques there are
many and I know but a
few,
But yesterday I did awesome
and bowled a 232.
