Buffalo isn't New York City, but Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week made it feel like it is.

Stores gave away discounts and there was a photo shoot, yacht cruise and runway event last Thursday at the Walden Galleria.

Macy's Fur Vault, Gap, Urban Threads, TT New York, Tony Walker, Cache, Express, Modern Nostalgia, and White House/Black Market carry the hottest trends for teens this season.

Macy's Fur Vault highlighted the fur vests that are making a comeback, showing off an edgier side for girls. They're great to layer with and dress up with a miniskirt and tights or black skinny jeans, or dress down with dark-wash jeans.

When teenagers think of Gap, they think of something they wore 10 years ago, but this year opinions might change. Gap is affordable and has the laid-back, effortless look that's perfect for school. Gap's oversize cardigans go great with leg warmers or jeans. Vests go with almost anything, and they can dress up or down. Layered flannel shirts are popular with boys.

Urban Threads carries the stylish Buffalo Jeans and Miss Sixty designer jeans. Another one-of-a-kind brand is Desigual, meaning uneven or not the same in Spanish. Their clothing is very unique, not symmetrical like most clothing. Desigual is an expensive but worthwhile investment. Urban Threads is the only way to get Desigual in this area because it can't be ordered online.

TTNY is a store you want to go to for your ideal formal dress. It carries all the popular styles including V-necks, sweethearts, one-strap and mermaid dresses. Multicolored, purple and green were popular colors on the runway. And, black is always in style.

Tony Walker, another one of the best denim suppliers in Buffalo, featured Paige Jeans. Paige Adams-Geller made a guest appearance and spoke about her success as a jeans designer. Many of her jeans are worn by celebrities. With the Paige jeans, sweaters, cardigans, fur vests, leather jackets, oversized bags, and riding boots were featured.

If you are going for a casual-dressy look with an edge, Express featured fur vests, knee-high boots, metallic purses, blazers and ankle boots that are perfect for that look.

Modern Nostalgia, which now has a second location opening, featured fashionable high-waisted belts, heavy necklaces, scarves, satchels, ankle boots, cargo pants and patterned leggings. These go with the basic essentials you already have.

White House/Black Market plays on the classic black-and-white look with a twist of color. This season lots of layering in jackets and jewelry were featured with spots of red. Black and White has a lot of accessories for layering with any outfit and has both basics and pieces that make the outfit.

Even if you're not the fashionista of your school or you can't afford the Marc Jacobs bag everybody is raving about, it doesn't mean you can't be stylish. These stores are sure to help you achieve a look that is perfect for you.
