Iskalo Development Co., one of the biggest developers in the Williamsville area, has agreed to buy the Lord Amherst Hotel in nearby Snyder, snapping up one of the area's landmark properties.
Neither the developer nor the current owners, the Genrich family, would give the purchase price for the deal, which is not expected to close until next month. The Williamsville-based developer would not comment further or discuss its plans for the 95-room hotel, located at 5000 Main St.
The property also includes the Sonoma Grille restaurant next door to the hotel, but owner and proprietor Michael Militello referred questions to Iskalo officials.
Located at the intersection of the Youngmann Highway and Main Street, the Lord Amherst was built by the Genrich family in 1960. Family member Willa Long declined to discuss why the family has decided to sell it. She said the hotel has been successful for them and is not losing money.
She said the family has other properties in the Buffalo area that it is keeping, but she would not identify them.
