Airport Anchor Bar seeks workers

Delaware North Cos. Travel Hospitalities Services is looking to fill some 60 jobs at the new Anchor Bar that will open at the Buffalo Niagara International Airport in early January.

The Buffalo-based company will hold a job fair at the Holiday Inn at 4600 Genesee St., across from the airport, on Tuesday from 9 a. m. to noon and 3 p. m. to 7 p. m. Delaware North is seeking bartenders, servers, bus persons, dishwashers and hosts/hostesses to staff the new sit-down airport restaurant.

Delaware North is also seeking cashiers for the new restaurant, as well as, its other airport food and retail operations.

The global hospitality company announced in May it would invest $7.6 million to create a new dining corridor in the airport’s east corridor that will include a satellite version of Buffalo’s famed Anchor Bar. The restaurant serve up Buffalo chicken wings and more in an 1,800-square-foot setting that will accommodate 74 diners and 42 bar patrons,

The airport Anchor Bar is expected to debut on Jan. 9.

Delaware North is also working with the Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority to develop a 200-seat airport food court that will include Villa Pizza, Checkers, Freshens and other walk-up eateries. The new food corridor will open next spring.

The food and drink overhaul will also bring Buffalo’s Anderson’s custard to the airport in space near Gate 21 now occupied by Jake’s Bistro and News.

“We will have 300 associates working at the airport by the end of next year,” up from 130 full-and part-time workers currently, said Delaware North’s Teresa Bruyere.
