Sabres' MacArthur elects for salary arbitration
Clarke MacArthur has elected to accept salary arbitration with the Buffalo Sabres, according to a statement from the NHL Players Association. The forward is one of 20 players to take that step. MacArthur had 17 goals and 14 assists in 71 games for the Sabres last season.
The deadline for salary arbitration notification is today at 5 p.m., so more names may be released at that time. Hearings will be held in Toronto from July 20 to August 4.
Others to accept arbitration include Matt Hunwick with Boston, Nikolai Zherdev with the New York Rangers, Jiri Hudler with Detroit, Anaheim defenseman James Wisniewski, Atlanta's Colby Armstrong, Carolina's Tuomo Ruutu, Chicago's Aaron Johnson, Columbus' Marc Methot, Edmonton's Denis Grebeshkov, Minnesota's Kyle Brodziak, Montreal's Tomas Plekanec, New Jersey's Travis Zajac, the New York Islanders' Nate Thompson, the Rangers' Ryan Callahan, Phoenix's Nigel Dawes and Daniel Winnik, Tampa Bay's Matt Smaby, Vancouver's Kyle Wellwood and Washington's Milan Jurcina.
