Rochester man enters guilty plea to burglary

Story tools:

LOCKPORT—A Rochester man who burglarized a Lockport apartment May 8 and hauled the loot away in a stolen car pleaded guilty Friday in Niagara County Court.

Ronald K. Johnson, 39, admitted to third-degree burglary and was scheduled for sentencing Jan. 15 by Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza.

The stolen items included a television, a keyboard and many electronic games, Assistant District Attorney Claudette S. Caldwell said. Lockport Detective John Yotter said Johnson “borrowed” a car from a Clinton Street man, took it to Chapel Street and loaded it up. He was arrested the next day in Rochester when police stopped the car and recovered some of the property.

Prosecutors want Johnson to pay $5,500 in restitution to the residents of the Chapel Street apartment, but he disputes the figure, and the question will be ironed out at the sentencing.
