Traffic stop results in gun seizure, 2 arrests
A gun was wrestled from a woman’s hands during a traffic stop Thursday in Buffalo, state police said.
Troopers Michael Connors and Joseph Krywalski, patrolling the city’s West Side while on assignment for Operation Impact, noticed that two occupants of a vehicle at Dewitt Street and Bird Avenue weren’t wearing seat belts, according to police. Buffalo police helped with stopping the vehicle, at which time a passenger was seen trying to hide a handgun behind her back.
The gun was wrestled from the woman’s hands, and both she and the driver were taken into custody, troopers said. Lisa Colon, 44, and Carlos L. Pagan, 31, both of Buffalo, were charged with criminal possession of a weapon.
Pagan, who reportedly was seen trying to get rid of crack cocaine at the time of the stop, faces drug charges, as well as criminal contempt—related to possessing a weapon in violation of a court order of protection, and tampering with physical evidence.
