Teen’s hospitality ends in gun, marijuana arrest
A Buffalo teenager invited police into a house he was staying in on Grote Street when they showed up looking for an individual wanted on an arrest warrant Thursday.
The invitation, it turns out, was probably a mistake.
When Northwest District officers asked David Perkins, 18, if there were any guns in the house, which was on the first block of Grote, he said no and added, “Go ahead and look if you want.”
Officers John Cirulli and Jay Reuther took him up on his offer and found a rifle on an upper shelf in a bedroom closet. Perkins, who also had marijuana on him, admitted the gun belonged to him, police said.
He was charged with criminal possession of a weapon and unlawful possession of marijuana.
