Genesee County man arraigned in tax case

Story tools:

EAST BETHANY—An East Bethany man is accused of failing to file state income tax returns from 2002 through 2007.

Benson J. Davis of Transit Road was arraigned this week in Bethany Town Court on four felony counts of repeated failure to file tax returns. He could face up to four years in prison if convicted, authorities said.

Davis filed tax returns in August after the state Department of Taxation and Finance launched an investigation, authorities said. He reported earning a total of $625,000 from 2002 through 2007 on interest and dividends from investments, with a tax liability of almost $50,000.

Genesee County District Attorney Lawrence Friedman is prosecuting the case.
