East Side shooting victim also pistol-whipped

Story tools:

Buffalo homicide detectives investigating a shooting Tuesday afternoon near East Ferry Street and Montana Avenue said the unknown assailant pistol-whipped the victim before shooting him.

The attacker then fled. The unidentified victim was taken to Erie County Medical Center. His injuries do not appear to be life-threatening, said police spokesman Michael DeGeorge.

Ferry-Fillmore District officers responding to the “shots fired” call at about 2:45 p. m. said the victim was shot twice, but remained conscious and was able to speak.
