Man punched and stabbed trying to enter apartment

A West Side man remains hospitalized in Erie County Medical Center after he was punched in the jaw and stabbed in the back as he tried to enter his apartment, Buffalo police said.
The victim told officers he was at the door to his apartment on Hoyt Street, just north of West Ferry Street, when two men assaulted him. The police report does not state when the incident occurred, but it was logged into the department’s computerized record system Thursday. The attackers fled with $400. The victim’s condition was not available.
