Niagara man gets probation for marijuana possession

Story tools:

LOCKPORT—Five years of probation was the sentence Monday in Niagara County Court for a man who had more than a pound of marijuana with him when his car was pulled over last year.

Michael A. Soliday, 30, of Lockport Road, Town of Niagara, had pleaded guilty before Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza to a reduced charge of attempted second-degree criminal possession of marijuana.

State police arrested him July 28 on Saunders Settlement Road in Lewiston after a traffic stop. In the car, they found 20 ounces of marijuana, some codeine and hydrocodone pills and a hypodermic needle.
