Paint store owner charged with grand larceny
DUNKIRK—The owner of a Fredonia paint store arrested on a third-degree grand larceny charge Friday is accused of stealing $4,200 from an elderly woman.
The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office said Kerry L. Anderson, 41, the owner of Anderson Painting, had accepted money from an 87-year-old Dunkirk woman to replace her windows. Anderson, however, never returned to do the job and did not return the money, police said.
Anderson was arrested on a warrant issued by Pomfret Town Justice David Prince, who was acting for the Town of Dunkirk. Bail was set at $20,0000 cash or $40,000 property. Anderson could not make bail and was remanded to the county jail. He is set to return to Dunkirk Town Court at a later date.
