Woman charged with DWI, leaving accident scene

Story tools:

Northeast District police arrested an Amherst woman early Thursday on charges of drunken driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Sarita L. Brown, 36, of Springville Avenue, was stopped in the 3500 block of Main Street as part of an investigation into a 911 call of a hit-and-run property damage accident at Wade and Fillmore avenues at about 12:15 a. m., according to police. She claimed that the damage to the front end of her vehicle was old, but Officer Craig Lehner said that her license plate matched that of the vehicle involved in the hit-run with another vehicle.

Her blood-alcohol level was 0.18 percent, more than double the legal limit, authorities said.
