Probation violator gets term up to 7 years

Story tools:

LOCKPORT—A Niagara Falls man who violated his probation in a domestic violence case was sentenced to 2 1/2 to seven years in state prison Wednesday.

Niagara County Judge Sara Sheldon Sperrazza gave James C. Wilson, 39, of Cleveland Avenue, the maxi-mum sentence for aggravated criminal contempt. Wilson violated a restraining order Feb. 22, 2008, by entering a Niagara Falls woman’s home and punching her in the face.

“He showed that victim no mercy, and we ask you to show this defendant no mercy in your sentence,” Assistant District Attorney Stephen J. Foley told Sperrazza.

Wilson violated probation by being arrested for petit larceny last fall. He admitted the probation violation in December but skipped a Feb. 11 sentencing date, and wasn’t caught until this week.
