Springville student charged with assault after fight

A 17-year-old Springville youth was charged with assault after a fight at Springville Griffith High School on Monday morning, Erie County sheriff’s officials reported.

The youth allegedly punched another student in the face and head after a dispute involving money, police said. The other youth was taken to nearby Bertrand Chaffee Hospital with cuts to his head and face. He was treated and released.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was arraigned on the assault charge and taken to the Erie County Holding Center in lieu of $100 bail.
