Injured driver charged with DWI after crash
A Lawtons man was charged with driving while intoxicated Friday after he struck a parked car, which in turn struck another parked car. Three people, including the driver, were injured, Erie County sheriff’s officials said.
The crash occurred on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.
Deputies said Richard Cornfield, 52, initially struck the car of a Seneca Nation marshal, which was parked on Brant Reservation Road, sending that car into a car parked car in front of it.
A female passenger in the marshal’s car and a woman in the driver’s seat of the third car were slightly injured and treated at the scene by the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation Volunteer Fire Department.
Cornfield suffered a head cut and was taken to Lake Shore Hospital, Irving, for treatment.
He was later charged with DWI and submitted to a chemical test to determine his blood-alcohol content.
He was released and is to appear in Town of Brant Court at a later date.
