Driver charged with DWI after vehicle leaves road
DUNKIRK—A Westfield man was charged with drunken driving over the weekend after his vehicle went off the road and almost struck a house, Chautauqua County sheriff’s officials said.
Authorities received a call at about 9:41 a. m. Friday of an erratic driver traveling along West Lake Road. The vehicle went off the road and traveled across two lawns, before coming to rest in a driveway, sheriff’s officials said Saturday.
Upon arrival, deputies found the driver passed out in the driver’s seat with the vehicle still running, according to reports. The vehicle continued to coast toward a house, until deputies were able to stop it just short of the residence, officials added.
The driver, Jeremy J. Gross, 38, was charged with felony drunken driving, aggravated drunken driving, reckless endangerment of property, and several other traffic infractions.
He was arraigned and sent to Chautauqua County Jail.
