Woman killed in collision with truck is identified
An Allegany County woman was identified after being fatally injured at about 11:20 a. m. Monday when her car collided with a tractor-trailer at Hunters Creek Road and Route 78 in Wales, Erie County sheriff’s deputies said.
Kelly Willard, 45, of Caneadea, was removed from the wreckage and airlifted to Erie County Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead. Southbound on Hunters Creek Road, she failed to stop at the stop sign and drove into the path of the rig, which was heading northwest on Route 78, deputies said. The car became wedged beneath the rig and was dragged a short distance, deputies said.
The truck driver, Brian D. Schofield, 66, of Wales, was treated at the scene, deputies said. Deputies said that it appears Willard failed to see the stop sign.
