Woman aiding at fire scene suffers smoke inhalation

Story tools:

A fire at a Marilla house shortly after noon Wednesday left a woman who came to help the homeowner suffering from smoke inhalation, the Erie County Sheriff’s Office said.

The fire at 2532 Eldridge Road was triggered by combustible material coming into contact with a stove, investigators said. The Marilla Fire Company was aided by the Elma and Jamison Road fire companies.

The victim, a relative of the homeowner, suffered smoke inhalation when she entered the house. She was treated in Mercy Hospital.
