Four injured in crash during police chase

LITTLE VALLEY—Four people were injured early Saturday when their vehicle crashed into a bridge during a police chase, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office said.

Salamanca police tried to stop the vehicle in the city about 2:30 a. m., but the driver took off, according to sheriff’s officials. Police and sheriff’s deputies chased the vehicle through the city and the Town of Great Valley, before the vehicle crashed into a bridge on Whig Street at about 2:38 a. m.

One of the passengers, Silas U. Attwood, 24, of Salamanca, was taken by Mercy Flight to Erie County Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition this morning, a hospital official said.

The driver, Curtis W. Zolner, 23, of Salamanca, was taken to Hamot Medical Center in Erie, Pa., and was listed in serious condition this morning. Another passenger, Daniel G. Bialaszewski, 20, of Salamanca, was treated at Olean General Hospital and released. A third passenger, Rachel

A. Jackson, 27, of Salamanca, also was taken to Olean General Hospital, but hospital officials would provide no information on her condition today.
