Arrest made in thefts spanning three counties
MACHIAS—A Machias man faces multiple charges in a series of burglaries in Erie, Cattaraugus and Wyoming counties, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office said Friday.
After an investigation by state police and the Cattaraugus and Erie counties sheriff’s offices, Lee Heitman Jr. of Block Road was charged with third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and criminal possession of stolen property, authorities said.
Heitman, who was accused of stealing lawnmowers, snowblowers, chain saws and other power tools, was being held in lieu of $10,000 bail in Cattaraugus County Jail.
