Drug suspect is charged with trying to bite officer
A Buffalo man with a lengthy criminal history was charged Tuesday with attempting to assault a police officer by trying to bite him.
Adam Garcia, 44, of St. Paul Mall, was spotted by police after he pulled up to a known drug house on 14th Street on the city’s West Side, according to a police report.
Garcia, who has previous manslaughter and drug convictions, was seen putting a piece of paper containing drugs into his mouth, the report said.
Believing Garcia was trying to swallow the drugs, Officer Robert E. Eloff tried to retrieve the substance. That’s when Garcia tried to bite his hand, according to the report.
Officers then forcibly removed Garcia from his car and handcuffed him. Garcia subsequently fell and hit his head on some ice, according to the report.
Garcia also was charged with resisting arrest, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, obstructing governmental administration and tampering with physical evidence.
